Vista Lake Ranch

Posted on: March 4th, 2019 by

Vista Lake Ranch is nestled in the hills along RR 2341. Lake Buchanan is the largest and first lake in the acclaimed Highland Lakes of Texas on the Colorado River. It is approximately nine (9) miles from Burnet. After turning onto RR 2341 from Highway 29, keep traveling six (6) miles north until turnoff. It is fronted on two sides by County Roads 110 and 113. The lower field is horse quality pasture with its red sandy loam and little to no surface rock. The ranch is traversed by Fry Branch which merges with Council Creek right off the property. The portion of the ranch on the South side of the Fry Branch starts to rise to a 120' change in elevation and also has more rock and thicker Cedar and White Brush. The ranch is fenced and is currently used as part of larger cattle operation with catch and load out pens. This is a very productive grazing property. Someone might also imagine a vineyard in this field that slowly slopes down to Fry Branch. The ranch is well treed with some massive Oaks, Elms and Pecans along with Mesquite, Persimmon and old growth Cedar. It is a great mix of open and wooded areas. Hunting is great in this area for whitetail deer, hogs, turkey, dove and varmints. There is a running spring that the mid 1800s homesteaders captured in a spring box and flows down to a concrete water trough. As mentioned there is 120' of elevation change and once on top, provides for the panoramic views of surrounding hills and including Lake Buchanan to the west. The ranch is located less than 15 minutes west of Burnet. Restaurants, shopping, HEB and airports are easily accessed from here. The local FBO airport Kate Craddock Field has a 5,000 foot lighted runway and full length taxi way.The Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport is within an hour drive and Austin Bergstrom being an hour and a half drive.

The Vista Lake Ranch is suited for a private ranch, viticulture and/or winery, equine operation, or development. The shape and road frontage would enhance the development potential. Call listing agents Bob Clifton 830 613-5215 or Brad Wilcox 512 461-7042 for more information. Looking forward to showing this unique property.

Lucky Penny Ranch

Lucky Penny Ranch
533.77 acres
Bell County, TX

Location: Approximately 45 minutes NW of Austin and 10 minutes from Copperas Cove.
Description: The Lucky Penny is a spectacular 538+/- acre ranch, around 40 minutes northwest of Austin. It’s rare to find acreage with so much character and having such an abundance of surface water. The topography has elevation changes of 120 feet, yet is virtually all usable. There are tremendous vistas from the higher elevations and the western views provide some of the best sunsets to be seen. The rolling terrain is very diverse- having high elevations and productive bottom land. Much of the cedar has been cleared, leaving a good hardwood cover of live oak, Spanish oak, and elm. Areas have been left untouched for game cover and there is approximately 100 acres of coastal or klein fields.

There is no shortage of water on the ranch. There is over 1 mile of, aptly named, Clear Creek frontage. Clear Creek meanders through the ranch and a dam impounds a long stretch of clear water that is 6-8 foot deep in places. The creek is shaded by huge native pecans. The signature feature of the land is a beautiful 6+/- acre lake that reaches depths of approximately 40 feet. The banks are clear of brush and there is a rock jetty and a concrete pad, for a picnic area. This blue water lake is made for swimming, canoeing, fishing, or jet skiing. It is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, and perch. Catches of 8+ pound bass, 2 lb. 9 oz. crappie, and catfish weighing 16 pounds have been reported. In addition the surface water the ranch has 3 water wells and rural coop water (Kempner Water Supply) provides water to the main house and guest lodge.

Improvements are not lacking either. The main house is a single story 3 bedroom, 3 bath home that is perfect for entertaining. The kitchen/dining/living area is open and has lots of windows to take in the sunsets and surrounding country. There is a den with bar and a shower in the utility/mud room. The master bedroom has 2 large walk in closets and a neat sitting area with views of the ranch. The master bath has a Jacuzzi tub and large walk in stone shower. Out the back door is a 2,000+/- square foot deck that can host a large group of folks.

A stones’ throw from the main home is a way cool 1 bedroom, 1 bath guest lodge. The home is built on the edge of a bluff and overlooks the entire ranch. There is a full kitchen and a large, open living area. A wrap around porch and deck provide breathtaking views. There is a massive built in, brick barbeque/smoker/grill/fish fryer. Between the two homes are two 2 car garages- each with an attached carport. All improvements in the compound have brick exteriors and a paved drive from the county road to the homes is approximately 2,400 feet in length.

Across the creek is relatively new foreman’s house. The house has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a covered front porch. Nearby is a barn with an apartment and workshop area, pole barn, and working pens, corral, Tri-Country Horse Barn with 8 Stalls, with a tack room and a feed room and a lighted arena with four rail “Buff tech” Lifetime Vinyl fence.

The ranch has been high fenced for about 13 years. At that time three breeding bucks, from Kansas and Iowa, and three genetically superior bred does, from South Texas, were brought in. The ranch has an MLD permit from Texas Parks and Wildlife. In addition to the excellent whitetail population, there are approximately Oryx and Black Buck Antelope. There is also turkey, dove, and ducks for hunting options.

This executive ranch is easy to get excited about because it has so much variety, beauty, and character. Options are numerous- family/corporate retreat, horse/cattle ranch, home place, and future development. One thing is for sure- this premier ranch will put a smile on your face every time you drive through the gate.

Excellent value for land in the area. Conveniently located in the fast growing corridor NW of Austin. The ranch fronts FM 243 and is 30 minutes or less to Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Cedar Park, and NW Austin. This is a great place to build your dream home and have enough elbow room for livestock, horses, and hunting. The land has a very gradual elevation change and offers good views from several locations. The property takes in part of a pond that is shared with a neighbor and there is a great site to build another pond. Scattered tree cover and productive soils. Game includes deer, turkey, dove, and varmints.
